Combined with a User Experience Design (UXD/UED) with basic design principles, as explained in Swinburne Multimedia Design Tutorial may deliver a great experiences to user application in various media. The basic design principles explained, consists of:

  • Proximity
  • Visual Hierarchy
  • Symmetry / Asymmetry
  • Repetition
  • Unity
  • Contrast
  • Dynamics
  • Emphasis

Basic design principles are used to organize or position the structural elements of design. These principles are the fundamental concepts that will assist you to communicate the key theme of your composition. As such they can be applied to each element of your design or to your composition as a whole.

It is necessary to develop a visual awareness to identify how these principles are used in the composition of every day design. In:

  • illustrations
  • photographs
  • animations
  • websites
  • billboards, and
  • posters

Developing a visual awareness will give you the skills necessary to critically analyze and constructively criticize the design work you engage in. This will allow you to develop a method of solving graphic problems in reference to the following basic principles of design.

Google, also focused the design on it’s Android platform around three overarching goals, which are applied to their core apps as well as their Android systems at large. Considered goals in developing Android application are as follow:

  • Enchanted, aestethically pleasing; fast and responsive; combining beauty, simplicity, and purpose to deliver an effortless and powerful user experience.
  • Simplify the life, easy to understand and intuitively grasp the most important feature without requiring complex procedures and task with too many options and choices.
  • Amazing, combining applications through multitasking, notification, and sharing between applications.
